Discover meaning. Depression, anxiety, and fear are some of the most common and distressing emotions that we can experience in our lives. Tens of thousands, if not tens of millions of people suffer from this insidious disease every day of their lives, and yet, by finding purpose, there is a clear and achievable way out of this crippling dilemma.
Many people experience troubling symptoms associated with disturbing events they have witnessed or been involved in. Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) in the military is a classic example of this. Ex-Soldiers, both men and women, often suffer severe, and prolonged mental distress from events that happened months, or in many cases, years ago. Anxiety, fear, hopelessness, and panic attacks, and are just a few of the symptoms that can linger long after the traumatic events occurred. But there are tens of thousands of ordinary citizens who also suffer from this pervasive disease. Living with chronic depression, unable to discover meaning, little hope of finding purpose, these are the 'walking wounded'. They may have a different type or level of depression, but any kind of depression can be debilitating. Low grade, chronic depression robs countless people of the ability to lead normal, happy, and productive lives. Low grade because many are still functioning, dragging themselves off to work each day, often depending on anti depressants, alcohol, or drugs, to cope. Chronic because it is long lasting and persistent. Today, depression is believed to be the most common malady, in the Western World.
At Reasons for Being we present a fresh, new approach, enabling people of all ages to discover their own, individual, purpose in life. What the French refer to as a Raison d'être, your own, unique, Reason for Being. A meaningful career, purpose, or passion, that will add meaning and power to your everyday life.
Power in the sense that when you work in your own, specific field of endeavor, you will, by finding purpose, not only become empowered yourself, but you will also be adding something back to the earth and its people. For you will be engaged in what the great Italian educationalist, Maria Montessori, referred to as a ‘Cosmic Task’, the deepest meaning and highest potential of your life. And, by embracing your own Cosmic Task, you will be satisfying a universal need that resides in the creative heart of every human being.
